Carly Cantlon

Carly is a Junior Designer based in London. Originally from Toronto, she graduated with a design degree from OCAD U.

She combines her experience in design and her fine art practice with a natural curiosity to solve problems, tell a story, and create design solutions.

Observation and connection inform her design and personal life, mainly found through her time spent learning from nature and others. She’s an avid runner and voracious reader. Her favourite authors are James Salter and John Fosse, and she’s looking forward to running her sixth marathon this year.

A platform with the power to spark curiosity, Scribd is a library of 170m+ documents, designed to democratize the exchange of information and faciliate deep understanding.

Scribd encourages discovery, and the brand expresses that very same notion. Taking cues from bibliographies and the act of browsing, the identity positions Scribd as the source for inspiration. The iterative push and pull of learning is expressed in a tension between utlitarian typography and an expressive graphic language, all underpinned by a colour palette that draws inspiration from archives.

Rooted in accessibility both in function and form, each design element reflects a functional use. Scribd Green pulls from the tactility of archival paper, remaining accessible and tech-forward, while an expanded colour palette introduces product-specific uses for a digital-first brand.

Made with Mother Design along a team of designers to develop a brand identity from the design development phase.
